Surveys and reports show that active engagement of young people living in Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Turkey is lower than the EU average. Another common problem of these countries is having a lower GDP per capita compared with the Northern European Countries. Hence young volunteers in this area cannot find appropiate and sustainable funding to their endeavours/initiatives. Eurobarometer survey shows that young people living in this countries also would like to participate volunteering activities and active engagements to contribute their local communities where they live.
In order the tackle the problems mentioned above, Youth Initiatives Against Local Problems (YIA Local) aims to contribute to capacity development of young people on the topics of active participation, citizenship, engagement, entrepreneurship, voluntariness in the society by encouraging and training them to be able to take initiative and/or a part in social sector organizations.
Our project consortium developed tailor made training methodologies which is limited in this area by their and participants’ active contributions. Project started on 01.11.2018 and its duration was 12 months. Training activity was 8 days and include non formal and informal training methods as well as study visits, role playing activities, simulations, debates, outdoor activities.
